Description:
Overall responsible for the consolidation of management and statutory reporting, maintaining and executing financial controls in compliance with Company policies, individual local Financial Reporting Standards (FRS), as well as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsible for reporting in a timely manner of financial consolidation, management and statutory reporting, including but not limited to the following:
    • annual budget & forecast report
    • monthly income statement report
    • balance sheet reconciliations
    • principal account statement
    • debtor / creditor ageing report
    • weekly cash flow forecast report
    • quarterly / annual internal reporting packages and statutory accounts
  • Evaluate report findings, present reporting deviations, and make recommendations to Senior Management on financial implications of proposed investments and/or transactions
  • Standardize and align finance policies, processes, and control systems within the Department
  • Ensure internal control policies and procedures are in compliance with Company policies, local FRS and IFRS
  • Conduct internal process reviews to ensure proper audit trails for accounting records according to statutory requirements
  • Ensure day-to-day transactional accounting, treasury, cash management, budget control and financial reporting are executed in a timely and accurate manner, including inter-company reconciliations
  • Develop and maintain the Credit Management Policy of the country
  • Process credit evaluations and minimize credit days and old overdue
  • Exercise control over local and overseas debtors and escalate inconsistencies or identified corporate risks to Management timely
  • Work closely and manage relevant external auditors, tax agent and local authorities to ensure all tax filings and any legal filing as required by local laws and regulations are performed accurately and timely, resolving any accounting or tax related issues raised by external auditors and/or external authorities;
  • Optimize VAT and tax structure with responsibilities of adherence to international Transfer Pricing guidelines working closely with the Group Tax Officer
  • Establish and maintain an appropriate internal control environment with cost reduction driven in all areas
  • Identify revenues optimization and bring creativity in developing new local charges;
  • Ensure adequate procurement processes are in place
  • Identify improvement areas and develop good accounting control procedures and best practices to enhance accounting quality and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Min Degree in Accountancy / Finance or equivalent
  • Masters / CFA preferred, but not a must
  • Preferably has prior exposure to shipping industry
  • Min 6 to 8 years of relevant work experience in maintaining and executing financial controls and reporting at country level
  • People management experience.

Key Competencies & Stills:

  • Good knowledge of local FRS and IFRS accounting standards;
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint;
  • Experienced in using any financial system (SAP preferred);
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal;
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
  • Previous experience in managing a team;
  • Team player with the ability to lead, develop and drive performance;
  • Organised and process oriented;
  • Meticulous with an eye for detail;
  • Focused on the end-results, constantly striving to deliver outstanding performance;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills;
