Person Specification

The role holder is expected to be or have the following key attributes:

  • Knowledge and understanding of creating first patterns and grading.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the wider garment construction, including size specification and grading rules.
  • Possess an excellent eye for detail and proportions.
  • Team player within your own department and across the wider business as well as an ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Flexible approach, with an ability to demonstrate diplomacy and tenacity as required.
  • A willingness to undertake UK and overseas travel.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the design and garment teams, create first patterns that ensure prototype garments meet the desired design concept, maintaining blocks where applicable.
  • Grade and digitise patterns, create corresponding size charts and ‘How to measure’ guides.
  • Attend fit sessions when required to ensure the fit and quality of garments meet the required standards.
  • Manage and work to critical path deadlines taking into consideration all of the below;
  • Highlight any changes and their implications to the team accordingly.
  • Internally fit grades/seals.
  • Take ownership of print and embroidery templates for manufacturing units.


• Take ownership for identifying and highlighting any garment risks.

• Issue approved patterns to the manufacturing units with all the relevant paperwork.

• Take a proactive approach and make recommendations for improvements to patterns.

• Undertake any other tasks deemed necessary and appropriate by your manager.
