JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF) is seeking a qualified nurse (Cambodian National) to join us at our education centre in Chbar Ampov.

ISF is an NGO providing education, healthcare and sporting opportunities to disadvantaged children in Cambodia. Additionally, ISF offers support services to families of children in our education programme to enable them to break the cycle of poverty they are currently trapped in.

Our organisation began by providing basic education for 18 children in 2006 to over 700 in 2018. We plan to take an additional 80-100 students into our education programme each year. Through services provided to students’ families, nearly 3,000 more people benefit from our programme.

In partnership with the Football Federation of Cambodia, ISF plays a key role in providing grassroots football opportunities to some of Cambodia’s most disadvantaged children. This programme has grown from 50 players in 2006 to almost 3,800 in 2018 including deaf, hearing impaired and players with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Accountability and Relationship:

●        Reports to Head Nurse

Duties and Key Responsibilities

●        Provide general medical assistance to the children ISF serve

●        Ensure that the children are treated when they sustain injuries and improve their personal hygiene.

●        Maintaining records for the children who receive treatment

●        Providing the Registered Nurse or Operation Manager with detailed monthly reports on the medical conditions of the children treated weekly.

●        Educate children and staff on basic health matters and nutrition. Also teach children basic hygiene, identifying safe water, as well as other necessary healthcare lessons

●        Educate children living with serious illnesses such as Hepatitis B & HIV on how to avoid infecting other with their illness.

●        Ensure children visit the dentist, optician or other specialists when necessary

●        Ensure that all vaccinations are up to date.

●        Support children with regard to mental health issues

●        Build up relationships with local health care providers that can benefit student families and ISF.

Abilities and Skills

●        Registered nursing certificate

●        Minimum of one year experience

●        Knowledge of nutrition and basic hygiene

●        Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

●        Enjoy working with children
